By Dr. Sheila Pope On Saturday, February 9th, I went to the Bank of America to open my first campaign bank account. All of my donations must be separate from my personal account. I made an appointment for Saturday at 9:30 am. Yet it took some time to be waited on by an agent. While I waited, a Pearland resident came in and sat down and we started to talk. She actually spoke with my daughter first. I listened then I joined the conversation. As we talked she said she recognized
Me and Mayor of Pearland, Tom Reid ttending State of the City! I attended my first “State of the City” presented by Mayor Tom Reid. If you are an entrepreneur, I am going to encourage you to invest in your local chamber of commerce. Previously, I did not join my local chamber because of their meeting were during the day and I was working full-time and doing business part-time. However today, I am a full-time entrepreneur and I can attend their events and serve on various comm
by Dr. Sheila Pope On January 18, 2019, I felt empowered and ready to take my life in a new direction. I attended Brazoria County Democrats Executive Committee Meeting and I looked around the room and realized I needed to do more. I have served as a Brazoria County Precinct Chair, Election Judge, and I have been a delegate to several Texas Democratic Conventions, including the 2018 convention. To be honest, I never saw myself as a politician. Instead, I identified as a Commun
By Dr. Sheila Pope One year ago, I moved into my first office. My friend Michelle and I celebrated. Now, I am working from my home office and shifting my visions and focus. My business address has changed and so have I. I am my brand; I do not have limits, except for those that exist in my mind. My faith in God has expanded and my focus on ways to generate revenue for others and my businesses have become more focused and strategic! I am amazed at how much change has taken pla

By Dr. Sheila Pope I had the opportunity to watch Judge Fredricka Phillps(she was an attorney at that time) become Vice Chair of Texas Democrats Convention in Dallas (Royce West hosted) in 2008/2009. Since her election as Vice Chair, her career has sky rocketed. I have seen her actively make the rounds with Democrats too. When she came into SD11 Caucus yesterday before we began to vote and announced she was moving forward in her journey, I realized I was witnessing a transfer
by Dr. Sheila Pope I have loved working with senior citizens for most of my life because of Zeffie Lee Frazier, my aunt, who took care of me while my parents worked. While my cousins Lorraine Joseph, Charlie Mae, and Joann Smith were at school, I was with Muh (Zeffie). My days were filled with activities. I watched the Edge of Night. I collected the eggs out of the hen house. I ate homemade biscuits and drank coffee at the age of six. I think Muh was around 50 when I was six.
By Sheila Pope, Ph.D This morning I was shocked to see Matt Lauer had been fired from the “Today Show”. I was shocked to see so many of my African American political Facebook Friends still support State Representative Ron Reynolds after he was found guilty of stealing his client’s money from settlements. Yes, I question how we can uphold any government officials with serious integrity issues and act as if they need to be in photos with candidates that have yet to prove themse
